Volunteers

CERT mission trips are open to anyone with a heart to serve. While medical and dental professionals are essential, non-medical volunteers are vital in assisting with patient intake, pharmacy distribution, organizing aid, and supporting local ministries.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old (or accompanied by a parent/guardian if younger). There is no upper age limit, but individuals must be fit for travel and field conditions and may be asked to produce a Statement of Fitness from their physician.

CERT offers general medical care to treat common diseases, provide dental extractions, distribute medications (non-narcotic), dispense eyeglasses, and educate communities on health and nutrition.

No, we work with in-country partners and translators to communicate with patients.

Each morning begins with breakfast at the hotel before traveling to a new clinic location. Clinics typically run from 9:00–9:30 AM until around 4:00 PM, with lunch provided onsite.

Upon arrival, the team sets up the clinic and gathers for group prayer. The clinic operates in a structured flow:

  1. Triage – Patients are assessed and directed to the appropriate care.

  2. Medical & Dental Care – Providers address health concerns and offer treatments.

  3. Pastoral Meeting – Patients have the opportunity to speak with a local pastor.

  4. Pharmacy – Medications and supplies are distributed as needed.

  5. Exit – Patients complete their visit.

At the end of the day, the team breaks down the clinic and prays with the host before returning to the hotel for dinner. Evenings are spent debriefing, sharing meals, and sometimes participating in local ministry or cultural activities. Though the location changes daily, the clinic structure remains consistent.

Volunteers are responsible for trip fees (+airfare), which include lodging, meals, in-country transport, travel/medical insurance, and medical supplies. The total cost varies by destination. All trip fees are tax deductible.

Volunteers are responsible for making their airline itineraries and purchasing tickets. CERT provides contact information for a travel agent who handles staff flights. We also share the team leader’s itinerary to match flights.

CERT encourages fundraising, and some volunteers seek sponsorships from churches, family, or friends to help cover their costs. We can help you set up a personal fundraising page.

We also offer student scholarships. Please reach out directly for eligibility requirements.
